Commentary

The film is going to begin with an establishing shot showing the street. This shot is going to set the scene. The titles showing the production company will appear in the bottom centre of the screen. This so the houses and the titles will be the dominative features on the screen. The colour of the titles will be black and the font will be a bold and rounder. The next shot is a panning shot showing one side of the street. The titles saying the director’s names will appear above the house so it won’t distract the view of the houses. These titles will have a similar style to the previous titles. A panning shot has been chosen to portray the realistic environment of the street and the houses. The next shot is going to be a wide shot of the house that the main character lives in. This shot creates the impression that the main character carries out her daily routine in this house. The next shot is going to be a zoom in to a close up to show the main characters window.  This shot is going to allow us to know more about this house where the main character lives. A wide shot showing a tour of the bedroom will create the personality of the character giving the impression of her hobbies, likes and dislikes. The next shot is going to be a mid-shot showing the girl sleeping to give the audience a feel of realism and this is going to be the start of her daily routine. A diagetic sound of the alarm clock will be heard over the mid shot to show the start of her day. A title will appear in the top right hand corner saying the producer’s name. This will have the same font style and colour as the previous. Two elements of mise- en- scene will be used, costume and facial expressions. The main character will be wearing her pyjamas and her facial expressions will show that she is still drained from her extensive sleep. A close up will see the main character hitting the alarm quite aggressively to show she is frustrated by the sound of the alarm. A wide shot of the character sliding out of bed will show her drowsiness and death like facial expressions. This will then go to a high angle shot showing her lying down on the floor like a motionless character. A diagetic sound of a thud will show her sluggishness when she gets out of bed.  A cut away will show the character walking towards the mirror in her room, and she will be looking at herself quite oddly in the mirror. This will show the audience how the character feels and shows them what she can see. A panning shot will show the character walking towards the wardrobe a wide shot will then show the character looking at her clothes and deciding what to wear. She will be throwing out her fashionable clothes to portray her lack of self-confidence.  A continuous upbeat sound will be played throughout along with the diagetic sounds of the actions on screen. A cut away will show her walking into the bathroom. An over the shoulder shot will show the character applying toothpaste to her teeth and then brushing. This is peculiar because it is the opposite of what normal people do. This creates the sense of humour in the opening sequence. A diagetic sound will be heard whilst brushing her teeth. Titles will wipe in saying the name of actors will then appear in the right hand corner of the screen, the title will then fade. The next title will appear in the left hand corner in the screen and will appear in the same way. The colour of the titles will be in pink bold rounded font. A long shot will show her facial expression of her looking glum will show how her mornings are quite depressing. A close will then show her picking her clothes from the floor and getting ready. An over the shoulder shot will then show the character looking at herself in the mirror as she finishes getting ready and puts on her glasses. This shot has been chosen to show the characters insecurity and how she struggles to find confidence in herself. A title will appear in the mirror saying the casting director’s name. The titles will appear in the black and bold style. We will then see the character move to her desk via a mid-shot. This shot will see her scribbling on fashion magazines. This shot has been used to show the characters admiration for these beautiful people that she sees on the magazines. Whilst she is scribbling on the page titles will appear saying the music producer’s names in the previous styles. A close up will then show the character flicking through the pages and as she flicks through the pages more titles will appear saying the editor’s name. The main character will when shut the magazine and we will see the name of the magazine ‘Vogue’ and the name of the film will appear. The name of the film will be in a bold black font that is slight swirled and rounded.  This style of font isn’t too complicated and will stand out with its large size.
